Meet Shelby! One of our experienced QC Coordinators in the US.
Meet Shelby! Having been a part of the Fulkrum team for two years now, Shelby’s experience has allowed her to sharpen her skills as a QC Coordinator and has already made lasting impressions on the team. Sharing an insight into her time so far with the company, Shelby discusses how she ensures the correct candidates are sourced for upcoming projects and how she helps drive new business opportunities for our clients. Here’s what she had to say!
- Can you tell us a bit about your career history?
I started my career in the Oil and Gas industry six years ago having spent time as an administrative assistant working for a world-leading spraying and coating service provider. I have recently joined Fulkrum as a Coordinator where I handle client requests for the provision of QA/QC, engineering, and project support as well as coordinate site and office-based personnel.
- How long have you worked at Fulkrum, and can you give us an insight into your experience so far?
Having worked at Fulkrum for nearly 2 years now, I’ve become accustomed to the fast-paced nature of the job and enjoy supporting our regional managers with the needs of various global markets. From managing and coordinating a multitude of tasks to submitting everything on time and to a high standard, work experience teaches it all!
Some of my day-to-day activities typically consist of liaising with clients and inspectors, sourcing candidates to match client requirements, and identifying opportunities to drive new business with both existing and potential clients.
- What would you say is your strongest skill and how does it contribute to your role?
Organization is my strongest skill; it allows me to stay on top of incoming requests in a fast-paced environment. Not only is it my strongest skill, I believe organization is the foundation of my role as a Coordinator as without it, processing invoices, handling client requests, and submitting site reports could cause significant delays to production.
- When sourcing candidates, how do you ensure they match the client’s exact requirements?
When I source candidates, I make sure they meet the clients’ standards across three key areas; experience, qualifications, and familiarity with the facility. It’s essential that the candidates have the correct knowledge and experience to handle the equipment and carry out the job safely, efficiently, and on time, which is a huge priority for us here at Fulkrum.
- When identifying new business opportunities for existing and potential clients, how do you help drive these opportunities?
Identifying business opportunities is a big part of my role. I help drive these opportunities by ensuring we are providing the best candidates possible to suit the client’s exact requirements so that the job is done on time, if not before the deadline.
- What are your short term and long-term goals for both your role and the company?
Currently, one of my short-term goals is to continue working to improve my communication skills as it’s essential in my role. My long-term goal would be to continue developing my skills, knowledge and experience as a Coordinator with the aim of progressing within the industry.
